Born in Dublin, Ireland, and currently residing in Berlin, Germany. Luke Holden is a visual and sound artist who primarily works with the medium of glass. His work explores themes centred on our sense of presence in the contemporary world. Through the interplay of glass and sound, he aims to sharpen our attention to often overlooked or subdued stimuli, encouraging a momentary reconnection to time and place. For instance, How the sound of a bell can evoke peace for one person while signifying alarm for another—a phenomenon Holden explores to reawaken sensory perception and reconsider the everyday.

For Holden, glass is not just a material but a portal to re-engage with our present perception. He is particularly interested in moments of whimsy, fleeting engagement, or even insignificant pleasures that arise when our awareness is unexpectedly piqued. He seeks to uncover these moments through cyclical practices that revolve around juxtaposition—how an object or experience can be simultaneously inviting yet rejecting, comforting or unsettling.
